The Baptist Joint Committee's 2001 Annual Religious Liberty Day Sermon is presented by Dr. Rev. James C. Miller, who was awarded The Interfaith Alliance's Walter Cronkite Faith and Freedom Award in 2000 because he "served as an outspoken activist for tolerance by advocating for the inclusion of gays in Boy Scouting and by sponsoring a community forum to address the issue of gays and lesbians in political life."
